The Institute’s applied research and technical assistance programs are designed to inform and improve policy and operations in the delivery of state and local services. Teams of IGSR researchers and planners work closely with public agencies to devise project plans, interpret findings, and develop interventions and strategies tailored to work and service settings, and which yield results that lead to more effective practices or to improved service levels and public savings. With expertise in both quantitative and qualitative assessment, in addition to business process re-engineering, the Institute functions to add knowledge and improve processes while building organizational capacity in areas tied to specific objectives.
Many projects span the interface between the criminal justice system and health and social service systems. Other projects involve program development and evaluation, systems implementation and management, strategic planning consultation, and facilitation. Often projects entail efforts to foster efficacy and enhance multi-agency collaboration.
